This Privacy Policy explains what information TriviaForge ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you use our Discord bot and website at getTriviaForge.com (together, the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Information from Discord
When the bot is used in a Discord server, or when you log in to the website with Discord, we receive the following from Discord's API:
- Your Discord user ID, username, and avatar
- The server (guild) IDs and names where the bot is installed
- Channel IDs and message context required to run trivia games (questions, your answers, reactions)
- For website login only: a list of the servers you belong to and your permissions in them, used to determine which servers you can manage
We do not read or store the content of unrelated messages in your server. The bot only processes messages sent in response to active trivia games it has started.
Information You Provide
- Submitted questions: When you submit a question through the website's Add Question form, we collect the question, answer, hints, and the email address you provide.
- Custom server questions: Questions added to a premium server's custom pool through the dashboard.
- Question ratings and reports: Your 👍/👎 reactions to questions and any reports you submit.
- Billing information: If you subscribe to Premium, payment information (card details, billing address) is collected and processed by Stripe. We do not see or store full card numbers — we receive only a Stripe customer ID, the last four digits, the card brand, and the subscription status.
Information Generated by Use
- Game results: scores, correct/incorrect answers, streaks, achievements earned, leaderboard standings
- Channel settings you configure (autoplay, threads, scheduled games)
- Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamps) kept for short periods for security and debugging
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the trivia game and keep score
- Display leaderboards, profiles, achievements, and stats pages
- Authenticate you on the website and remember your preferences
- Process Premium subscriptions and provide premium features
- Review and moderate user-submitted questions
- Improve the Service (e.g., using question ratings to identify bad questions)
- Communicate with you about the Service when necessary (such as billing or major changes)
- Detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Discord — required for the Service to function
- Stripe — for processing Premium payments
- Our hosting provider (DigitalOcean) — for running the bot and website
- Law enforcement or other parties — only when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TriviaForge or its users
Public information — such as your username and score on a public leaderboard or your profile page — is visible to anyone who visits those pages.
4. Cookies
The website uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies:
tf_session — your login session (HTTP-only, expires after 30 days)oauth_next — short-lived helper used during Discord login (deleted after login completes)session_token — admin session for staff use of the moderation panel
We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
5. Data Retention
- Game data and scores are kept indefinitely so leaderboards and profiles remain meaningful over time.
- Custom server questions are kept even when a server's premium subscription lapses, so they are not lost on resubscription.
- Login sessions are deleted automatically when they expire (30 days) or when you log out.
- Submitted questions remain in our system as long as needed for moderation and to operate the global question pool.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. To make such a request, email support@getTriviaForge.com from the email associated with your account or include your Discord user ID so we can verify your request.
Because the bot operates inside Discord, you can also:
- Stop using the Service at any time
- Ask a server administrator to remove the bot from a server
- Revoke the bot's website login access from your Discord account's authorized applications
Note that some information (such as scores and submitted questions) may persist in aggregated form, or where retention is required for legitimate operational or legal reasons.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the Service, please contact us so we can remove the relevant data.
8. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. By using it, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or any other country where we or our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to protect your information regardless of where it is processed.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including HTTPS for all website traffic, hashed admin passwords, CSRF protection on form submissions, and HTTP-only cookies. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, and you use the Service at your own risk.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced through the website, the bot, or our community Discord.
